AI has now established itself as a tool capable of generating deep emotions, transforming theater into a space where human and machine meet to question our relationship with the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Le songe d&rsquo;une M\u00e9lang\u00e8re apprivois\u00e9e <\/em>is a hybrid theatrical project based on the idea of mixing and interacting between different disciplines and cultures. By reinterpreting Shakespeare&rsquo;s classics <em>A Midsummer Night&rsquo;s Dream <\/em>and <em>The Taming of the Shrew<\/em>, as well as Ionesco&rsquo;s <em>Rhinoceros<\/em>, thirteen Taiwanese students from the National Central University (NCU) took part in an artistic project <strong>combining theater and technology<\/strong>. The play, performed on Friday June 14 as part of the <em>\u00ab\u00a0<\/em>Artificial Intelligence and Optical Art\u00a0\u00bb course, brought together students from a variety of disciplines (sciences, humanities, arts) under the direction of Chii-Chang Chen from NCU&rsquo;s optics-phonotics department and Nicolas Drouet, a French professor at the same university. The play creates a <strong>dialogue<\/strong> between human and machine, reality and virtuality. The main character, M\u00e9lang\u00e8re, embodies this struggle for identity in a world where boundaries are blurred, and where AI and algorithms are becoming an inescapable part of our daily lives. This project explores the role of artificial intelligence in artistic creation, using digital tools to generate <strong>visual and sound<\/strong> content while integrating classical theatrical practices. The intercultural aspect of the project is also central, as it unfolds within a <strong>trilingual <\/strong>framework (Mandarin, French and English), which has enriched the creative process and opened up innovative perspectives on translation and adaptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What&rsquo;s more, artificial intelligence, far beyond its technical capabilities, is now establishing itself as a tool capable of arousing deep emotions, transforming the theater into a space where humans and machines collaborate to question our relationship with the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI in art, a vector of authentic emotions&#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Le songe d&rsquo;une M\u00e9lang\u00e8re apprivois\u00e9e <\/em>project marks an unprecedented step in the educational and artistic landscape : it is <strong>the first Franco-Taiwanese educational project<\/strong> to use artificial intelligence as a creative tool. <strong>This innovative partnership<\/strong> between students and teachers from both cultures puts AI at the heart of artistic <strong>reflection<\/strong> and <strong>production<\/strong>. In this piece, artificial intelligence is not only a subject of exploration, but also a source of creation. Indeed, part of the text was written by an AI, which was also used to generate images projected during the performance. These elements, piece by piece, build the atmosphere and the visual framework: technology is thus able to give an <strong>artistic and emotional dimension<\/strong> to the play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This dual use highlights a major development : AI is no longer limited to producing static texts or images. It is now capable of generating deep emotions, one might even say human emotions, captivating audiences and confronting them with new feelings, ranging from <strong>admiration to unease<\/strong>. The joint work of artists and AI offers forms of expression never before seen in the theater. The images created by the machine, oscillating between the familiar and the strange, captivate the spectator and elicit immediate <strong>reactions<\/strong>, whether of wonder or disquiet. Among these images, the students took their own photos and searched for <strong>rhinoceros<\/strong> pictures, which they then combined using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artbreeder.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.artbreeder.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI application Artbreeder<\/a>. To enrich their project, they also created videos using <strong>Runway and Pika<\/strong> tools, integrating different technologies to produce unique visuals tailored to the piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, the play&rsquo;s text embodies a certain irony : it expresses anguish at the growing impact of artificial intelligences, even though it was itself partly created by an AI. As in the excerpt: <em>\u00ab\u00a0Isn&rsquo;t the human being still under threat? What about new technologies? Loss of jobs, increased surveillance, social alienation, technological dependence, loss of control, manipulation of information, dehumanization of services, loss of human skills, existential risk for humanity&#8230;\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>. This paradox feeds into a broader reflection on the relationship between humans and <strong>technology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond its technical prowess, AI is becoming a tool for exploring human concerns in the face of technological acceleration. It acts as a mirror for our collective anxieties, making palpable <strong>universal emotions<\/strong> such as beauty, curiosity and anxiety in the face of the unknown. This approach gives the piece a cathartic dimension, inviting spectators to engage in an <strong>inner dialogue<\/strong> about the future of our world and the role artificial intelligence plays in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Franco-Taiwanese educational and artistic project opens the way to new ways of integrating digital tools into <strong>artistic practices<\/strong>. They are confronted with questions about themselves and the society in which they live. A work created by AI allows us to construct narratives and visuals without distorting the emotions or the acting. The emotions generated by an AI such as <strong>ChatGPT<\/strong> can reach us while warning us of its own <strong>dangers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AI-powered art opens the way to a poignant exploration of <strong>dehumanization <\/strong>in the face of <strong>new technologies<\/strong>. Through stagings where technology seems to supplant human relationships, these works like <em>Le songe d&rsquo;une M\u00e9lang\u00e8re apprivois\u00e9e<\/em>, reveal the tensions between a <strong>desire for modernity<\/strong> and a <strong>nostalgia <\/strong>for a more humane way of life. The parallel with <strong>Eug\u00e8ne Ionesco&rsquo;s <em>Rhinoceros<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>makes perfect sense. We&rsquo;re faced with the question: \u00ab\u00a0Is AI the new rhinoceros disease? \u00ab\u00a0. This sentiment was also echoed by the students in the play. During our <strong>interiew<\/strong> on the November 18th 2024, they talked to us about their concerns regarding the development of AI, and wondered whether humans would become <strong>slaves<\/strong> to new technologies. By confronting the audience with these realities, the play awakens <strong>deep emotions<\/strong>, but also a form of <strong>anxiety<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As well as <strong>arousing the emotions<\/strong>, this work can also be <strong>cathartic<\/strong>. By confronting viewers with their <strong>anxieties<\/strong> about new technologies, it enables them to explore and understand their own feelings in the face of accelerating progress. This process of <strong>introspection<\/strong>, typical of catharsis, helps to transform sometimes oppressive emotions into critical reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dilemma of increasing <strong>dependence<\/strong> on technology, and AI in particular, is also clearly evoked in the play <em>: \u00ab\u00a0In fact, we don&rsquo;t know, we don&rsquo;t know anything. It&rsquo;s AI that knows, that guides us.\u00a0\u00bb. <\/em>Audiences, moved by the depth of this theme, can question their own <strong>technological dependence<\/strong>. This reflection goes beyond the individual: by sharing these experiences, the works fuel a collective debate on the <strong>ethical<\/strong> and <strong>societal<\/strong> stakes of the individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, it is this dual dynamic &#8211; <strong>emotional and intellectual <\/strong>&#8211; that gives AI-produced art a uniquely cathartic reach. L\u2019aspect interculturel du projet est \u00e9galement central, car il se d\u00e9ploie dans un cadre <strong>trilingue<\/strong> (mandarin, fran\u00e7ais et anglais), ce qui a enrichi le processus cr\u00e9atif et ouvert des perspectives innovantes sur la traduction et l\u2019adaptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Par ailleurs, l\u2019intelligence artificielle, bien au-del\u00e0 de ses capacit\u00e9s techniques, s\u2019impose d\u00e9sormais comme un outil capable de susciter des \u00e9motions profondes, transformant le th\u00e9\u00e2tre en un espace o\u00f9 humains et machines collaborent pour interroger notre rapport au monde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L\u2019IA dans l\u2019art, un vecteur d\u2019\u00e9motions authentiques\u2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Le projet<em> Le songe d\u2019une M\u00e9lang\u00e8re apprivois\u00e9e <\/em>marque une \u00e9tape in\u00e9dite dans le paysage \u00e9ducatif et artistique : il s&rsquo;agit du <strong>premier projet p\u00e9dagogique<\/strong> franco-ta\u00efwanais utilisant des intelligences artificielles comme <strong>outils de cr\u00e9ation<\/strong>. Ce partenariat innovant entre \u00e9tudiants et enseignants des deux cultures met l\u2019IA au c\u0153ur de la <strong>r\u00e9flexion<\/strong> et de la <strong>production artistique.<\/strong> Dans cette pi\u00e8ce, l\u2019intelligence artificielle n\u2019est pas seulement un sujet d\u2019exploration, mais \u00e9galement une source de cr\u00e9ation. En effet, une partie du texte a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9dig\u00e9e par une IA, et celle-ci a aussi servi \u00e0 g\u00e9n\u00e9rer des images projet\u00e9es durant la repr\u00e9sentation. Ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments construisent, pi\u00e8ce par pi\u00e8ce, l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re et le cadre visuel. La technologie arrive donc ici \u00e0 donner une <strong>dimension artistique et \u00e9motionnelle<\/strong> \u00e0 la pi\u00e8ce.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette double utilisation met en lumi\u00e8re une \u00e9volution majeure : l\u2019IA ne se limite plus \u00e0 produire des textes ou des images statiques. Elle est d\u00e9sormais capable de g\u00e9n\u00e9rer des \u00e9motions profondes, on pourrait m\u00eame dire humaines. Elle confronte le public \u00e0 des sentiments nouveaux, entre<strong> admiration et malaise<\/strong>.&nbsp; Le travail conjoint des artistes et de l\u2019IA offre des formes d\u2019expression encore jamais vues au th\u00e9\u00e2tre. Les images cr\u00e9\u00e9es par la machine, oscillant entre le familier et l\u2019\u00e9trange, captivent le spectateur et suscitent des <strong>r\u00e9actions<\/strong> imm\u00e9diates. Parmi ces images, les \u00e9tudiants ont pris leurs propres photos et recherch\u00e9 des photos de <strong>rhinoc\u00e9ros<\/strong>, qu\u2019ils ont ensuite combin\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019aide de l\u2019application d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artbreeder.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.artbreeder.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2019IA Artbreeder<\/a>. Pour enrichir leur projet, ils ont \u00e9galement cr\u00e9\u00e9 des vid\u00e9os en utilisant les outils <strong>Runway<\/strong> et <strong>Pika<\/strong>, int\u00e9grant ainsi diff\u00e9rentes technologies pour produire des visuels uniques adapt\u00e9s \u00e0 la pi\u00e8ce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Par ailleurs, le texte de la pi\u00e8ce incarne une certaine ironie : il exprime l\u2019angoisse de l\u2019impact croissant des intelligences artificielles, alors qu\u2019il a lui-m\u00eame \u00e9t\u00e9 partiellement cr\u00e9\u00e9 par une IA.&nbsp; C&rsquo;est le cas dans l\u2019extrait :<em> \u00ab L\u2019\u00eatre humain n\u2019est il pas, encore aujourd\u2019hui menac\u00e9 ? Quid des nouvelles technologies ? Perte d\u2019emplois, surveillance accrue, ali\u00e9nation sociale, d\u00e9pendance technologique, perte de contr\u00f4le, manipulation de l\u2019information, d\u00e9shumanisation des services, perte des comp\u00e9tences humaines, risque existentiel pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9\u2026 \u00bb<\/em>. Ce paradoxe nourrit une r\u00e9flexion plus large sur les relations entre humain et <strong>technologie<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au-del\u00e0 de ses prouesses techniques, l\u2019IA devient un outil pour explorer les pr\u00e9occupations humaines face \u00e0 l\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration technologique. Elle agit comme un miroir de nos angoisses collectives, rendant palpables des <strong>\u00e9motions universelles<\/strong> comme la beaut\u00e9, la curiosit\u00e9 ou l\u2019inqui\u00e9tude devant l\u2019inconnu.&nbsp; Cette approche donne \u00e0 la pi\u00e8ce une dimension cathartique : elle invite les spectateurs \u00e0 un <strong>dialogue int\u00e9rieur<\/strong> sur l\u2019avenir de notre monde et le r\u00f4le que l\u2019intelligence artificielle y joue.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce projet p\u00e9dagogique et artistique franco-ta\u00efwanais ouvre la voie \u00e0 de nouvelles formes d\u2019int\u00e9gration des outils num\u00e9riques dans les <strong>pratiques artistiques<\/strong>. <em>Le songe d\u2019une M\u00e9lang\u00e8re apprivois\u00e9e<\/em> offre une exp\u00e9rience immersive et \u00e9motionnelle, d\u00e9finissant notre rapport \u00e0 l\u2019art, \u00e0 la technologie et \u00e0 l\u2019humain.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"1. Il se confronte \u00e0 des questionnements sur lui-m\u00eame ou la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 dans laquelle il vit. Une \u0153uvre cr\u00e9\u00e9e par l\u2019IA permet de construire des r\u00e9cits et des visuels sans pour autant d\u00e9naturer les \u00e9motions ou le jeu des com\u00e9diens. Les \u00e9motions que procure une IA comme <strong>ChatGPT<\/strong> peuvent nous parvenir tout en nous avertissant de ses propres <strong>dangers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019art aliment\u00e9 par l\u2019IA ouvre la voie \u00e0 une exploration poignante de la <strong>d\u00e9shumanisation <\/strong>face aux <strong>nouvelles technologies<\/strong>. \u00c0 travers des mises en sc\u00e8ne o\u00f9 la technologie semble supplanter les relations humaines deviennent m\u00e9connaissables, ces \u0153uvres r\u00e9v\u00e8lent les tensions entre un <strong>d\u00e9sir de modernit\u00e9<\/strong> et une <strong>nostalgie<\/strong> pour un mode de vie plus humain. Le parall\u00e8le avec la pi\u00e8ce<em> <\/em><strong><em>Rhinoc\u00e9ros<\/em> d\u2019Eug\u00e8ne Ionesco<\/strong> prend alors tout son sens. Nous sommes alors confront\u00e9s \u00e0 cette question : \u00ab L\u2019IA est-elle cette nouvelle maladie rhinoc\u00e9ros ? \u00bb. Ce sentiment est \u00e9galement pr\u00e9sent chez les \u00e9tudiants de la pi\u00e8ce. Ils ont \u00e9voqu\u00e9 avec nous, lors de notre <strong>interview <\/strong>le 18 novembre 2024, leur inqui\u00e9tude face au d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019IA et ils se demandent si l\u2019humain va devenir <strong>esclave <\/strong>des nouvelles technologiques. En confrontant les spectateurs \u00e0 ces r\u00e9alit\u00e9s, la pi\u00e8ce \u00e9veille des <strong>\u00e9motions profondes<\/strong> mais \u00e9galement une forme <strong>d\u2019inqui\u00e9tude<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au-del\u00e0 de l\u2019<strong>\u00e9veil \u00e9motionne<\/strong>l, cette \u0153uvre peut avoir une v\u00e9ritable <strong>port\u00e9e cathartique<\/strong>. En confrontant le spectateur \u00e0 ses <strong>angoisses<\/strong> li\u00e9es aux nouvelles technologies, elle lui permet d\u2019explorer et de comprendre ses propres sentiments face \u00e0 l\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration du progr\u00e8s. Ce processus <strong>d\u2019introspection<\/strong>, typique de la catharsis, aide \u00e0 transformer des \u00e9motions parfois oppressantes en r\u00e9flexion critique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le dilemme li\u00e9 \u00e0 la <strong>d\u00e9pendance <\/strong>croissante aux technologies, notamment aux IA, est \u00e9galement \u00e9voqu\u00e9 clairement dans la pi\u00e8ce : <em>\u00ab En fait, nous ne savons pas, nous ne savons rien. C\u2019est elle qui sait, qui nous guide. \u00bb<\/em>. Les spectateurs, touch\u00e9s par la profondeur de ce th\u00e8me abord\u00e9, peuvent interroger leurs propres rapports aux machines ou \u00e0 leur propre <strong>d\u00e9pendance technologique<\/strong>. Cette r\u00e9flexion va au-del\u00e0 de l&rsquo;individu : en partageant ces exp\u00e9riences, les \u0153uvres alimentent un d\u00e9bat collectif sur les enjeux <strong>\u00e9thiques <\/strong>et <strong>soci\u00e9taux <\/strong>de l\u2019individu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En fin de compte, c&rsquo;est cette double dynamique \u2013 <strong>\u00e9motionnelle et intellectuelle<\/strong> \u2013 qui conf\u00e8re l&rsquo;art produit par l&rsquo;IA une port\u00e9e cathartique unique. L\u2019IA nous invite \u00e0 red\u00e9couvrir ce qui nous rend profond\u00e9ment humains : notre capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 <strong>ressentir<\/strong>, \u00e0 <strong>r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir <\/strong>et \u00e0 <strong>construire <\/strong>un avenir en conscience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Une pi\u00e8ce comme <em>Le songe d\u2019une M\u00e9lang\u00e8re apprivois\u00e9e<\/em> permet aux spectateurs et aux com\u00e9diens de transformer leurs craintes face aux nouveaut\u00e9s du num\u00e9rique en <strong>r\u00e9flexion critique.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Ainsi, <em>Le Songe d\u2019une M\u00e9lang\u00e8re apprivois\u00e9e met<\/em> en sc\u00e8ne la fa\u00e7on dont une pi\u00e8ce cr\u00e9\u00e9e partiellement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019intelligence artificielle parvient \u00e0 mobiliser les \u00e9motions du public tout en offrant une r\u00e9flexion cathartique sur <strong>l\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration technologique<\/strong>. L\u2019utilisation de l\u2019IA dans la cr\u00e9ation de la pi\u00e8ce permet d\u2019amplifier les \u00e9motions humaines traditionnelles, en introduisant une forme d\u2019<strong>inqui\u00e9tude<\/strong> et de <strong>fascination<\/strong> vis-\u00e0-vis des nouvelles technologies. Cette confrontation \u00e9motionnelle est une invitation \u00e0 une introspection collective et personnelle. L&rsquo;IA, tout en \u00e9tant un catalyseur de cette exploration \u00e9motionnelle, devient aussi le miroir des questions existentielles contemporaines : comment rester humain dans un monde qui semble de plus en plus fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 par des algorithmes et des machines ?
